I met Jon, Cody, and Dan (yes Dan! He is alive and about 10lbs. heavier, but he is back) at the parking lot up Green Canyon. We ran up the single track and got on the brand new section of single track and took it into Naomi wilderness. We went up 6 miles and came back the same way. I had never been in that part of Green canyon before. The last couple of miles were pretty tricky with alot of brush, rocks and winding trail, we were going 10 to 12 minute pace. When we turned around it took a mile or so to get out of the thick crap and then we were able to pick up the pace to 6:30 or so. I'm sure Jon was going faster than that because he likes to sprint down those trails! Dan did good for not doing a lot for the last 6 weeks and ended up with a super quality run. I had a lot of fun tonight on that run, it was the kind of run that recharges the mind and body so you want to run more. I'm sure that it was mostly because I was running with my friends, the only one missing was Paul.

That is the main reason I am kind of bummed about moving next week, I will miss running with those guys all of the time. I will still try to run with them on Saturdays, and Monday afternoons I have a student teaching seminar that is at USU so I will be over for that. It took me two years up here to get to know a few guys and have some friends to train with and it has made all of the difference in the world with my training this year. It was a great and fun run tonight, and hopefully I can have many more of those. 1:45:22

We're not going to let you leave. We are going to tie you and Allison down and stow you in a trunk...

I just looked at your picture and laughed- you have a bit of a dazed look on your face!

From jtshad on Tue, Aug 07, 2007 at 10:02:26

Where are you moving to? Close by from the sounds of it...

From James on Tue, Aug 07, 2007 at 10:39:40

Jon,

Making fun of my ugly mug isn't going to help me stick around! That picture does look better when it is enlarged though.

Jeff,

We are moving to Willard or Honeyville, just there by Brigham City. I was placed over there for student teaching this fall. After that it will be where ever I can get a job, within reason. I was originally supposed to be at Logan High, but that changed two weeks ago. We have been managing some apartments right by USU for the last year and couple of months and absolutely hate it, so we figured it was best to move.

Don't worry, they don't forget you when you leave. Right guys? Right?

What's the new trail up Green Canyon? Is it up by the wilderness boundary?

From James on Tue, Aug 07, 2007 at 11:49:00

Dave,

Paul or Jon would be the better ones to ask about that new trail, but it is by the wilderness boundaries. I actually wasn't quite sure where we were at times, but the trail stays low and heads to the North instead of going high and heading to the South/East like the other one.

From Paul Petersen on Tue, Aug 07, 2007 at 13:15:17

I haven't been on the new trail yet.

Don't worry James, we'll visit you out in Honeyville. But I expect you back in Logan after student teaching is over!

Who is David? Sounds remotely familiar, like someone I might have known once...

The new singletrack starts one mile before the end of the dirt road (2.66 miles past the start of the Green Canyon parking lot) and finishes about fifty yards before the fence. Very nice trail. See my July 12 entry for more description on it. It starts on the north side then crosses the road and finishes on the south side of the road. Nice and smooth.

James, I still think it's a great picture.

Paul,

That is my plan as well, we would like to stay in the Valley, it is a great place and we love it here.
