Personal:

I was born in 1979 and grew up in Mona Utah. I have a beautiful wife (Allison) and a very cute three year old boy (Jaren). We live in American Fork and I am a Health, Science, and PE teacher at Oquirrh Hills Middle School in Riverton. I coach Track and Cross Country at Riverton High.  My running often takes a back seat to my coaching.

I think Sasha and hot pink shorts are the bomb!

Go pinky!!

5:00am-  Cool morning run in the upper 20s.  I did an easy 6 miles up into Highland and back along 200 East and Alpine highway.  I felt good today and just cruised along on the dark cold roads.

During the late spring and summer I run along that stretch almost every day (although generally just a tad later). I'll say hello if I see a dark shape pass by :)

BTW, do you happen to know a Darwin Beardall? He's my uncle and has lived in Mona for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure if Mona is quite small enough that you'd know most people.

Kerry,

I know a Ken Beardall in Mona! When I grew up there were about 1,100 people in the town so everybody knew everybody. Now there are three times that and I don't know anyone.

Yes, that's him! I forgot that he goes by Ken (we never call him that since Ken Beardall was my grandfather and he went by Darwin for the first 30 or 40 years of his life :)

I used to teach his son Steven karate!

What? You're a karate instructor? I'm going to withdraw from challenging you to smackdowns from this point on...if I can. :)

That's really interesting...did you have a studio or just teach privately. I took karate for a couple of years as a teenager and that was where I actually started running more consistently (we'd run barefoot on asphalt to toughen our feet).

Kempo Karate was in another life for me. I got into it as a kid and started up again in my late teenage years to get more flexibility and cross-training. I was an assistant instructor and we did have a small dojo.
