Stay fit and healthy. Run a decent Boston and St. George marathon.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Keep fit and stay semi-competitive as long as I can.
Personal:
I have a wonderful wife and son and we live in Riverton/Herriman Utah. I am a high school teacher, and head coach for cross country and track at Mountain Ridge High.
No run today. I had zero problems with my achilles on my run yesterday but it was way sore today. I can't figure this injury out, and it is beyond annoying now.
Where is the achilles sore? Is there a bump or indentation anywhere on the tendon, or is it sore on the insertion. You may have some bursitis going on ifit is at the insertion. Google retrocalcaneal bursitis. A bump or indentation just above the insertion would indicate more tendonitis and potential weakness in the tendon, this would require rest! I know all too well what achilles problems are, that is what tanked me at St. George.
It is sore in the middle and I haven't found a bump like bursitis or calcification, and it has never swollen. It just feels over worked and gets really sore and stiff sometimes. I am thinking that it is a problem from over compensation in other areas of the body. I must be a little off because when I get sore it seems to mainly be on the left side of my body. Every injury that I have had in the last five years due to running has been on the left side. I haven't been able to figure it out.
